Upcoming Changes to Crafting

submitted by lifebane on Oct 6th, 2008 - Classes: All - 0 comments

Hail fellow Hyborians!

First I want to let you guys and gals know who I am. I have in recent months taken over the crafting system here at Funcom. Rest assured I do read the crafting forums. And believe me when I say individual suggestions are noted, and we are working hard to accommodate them where appropriate. Obviously, some concerns are easy to address, while others tie back to known underlying issues. It's always a balance between spending resources on a quick-fix...

Guide to Efficient Questing and Grinding by Fervor

submitted by lifebane on Sep 20th, 2008 - Classes: All - 0 comments

This guide provides answers to the ‘Where do I go next?’ question while doing the 1 to 80 level grind. There are other guides out there that provide more comprehensive listings of quest areas and grind locations, but you don’t need to go to every location. (Complete list of zones/instances. Great list of grinding locations.)

General Tips

Always restock your potions (they stack to 50) and food (stack to 20) whenever you run low and are near a vendor....

Herald of Xotli: Leveling Build and Feat Advice by Fervor

submitted by lifebane on Sep 20th, 2008 - Classes: All - 0 comments

The Herald of Xotli (HoX) is all about damage and more damage. For many people, it is the most exciting class to play in Age of Conan. I’ve heard it referred to as a glass chainsaw and it is a very apt analogy. They dish out huge numbers, but the combination of cloth armor and a relatively small health pool for a melee fighter means a HoX is always at death’s door.

This leveling build is primarily focused around increasing the HoX’s core damage dealing abilities,...

Bear Shaman: Revised leveling build and feat advice by Fervor

submitted by lifebane on Sep 20th, 2008 - Classes: All - 0 comments

Blood Fever vs Untamed Regeneration

With the significant reduction in Untamed Regeneration’s regeneration and increase in vulnerabilities, it becomes a good situational tool instead of a skill you run all the time. Blood Fever’s 20% damage increase becomes a more attractive option.

Untamed Regeneration (UR) is no longer a must have skill for many BS’s. It is still a very good skill, but one that should be managed properly. Preliminary testing has shown...

Tempest of Set: Leveling Builds and Feat Review by Fervor

submitted by lifebane on Sep 20th, 2008 - Classes: All - 0 comments

The most effective leveling build is no longer as obvious due to the many recent changes to the Tempest of Set. This guide includes two leveling progressions. One is based on building a balanced toolset focused around Lightning Strike and Storm Field. The other is a build focused on maximizing AoE damage and grinding static mob camps or instances.

NOTE: I place a high priority on acquiring the more important feats as soon as possible. As a result, the feat progression is a little...

Priest of MItra Leveling & Feat Guide by Fervor

submitted by lifebane on Sep 20th, 2008 - Classes: All - 0 comments

This build is focused on creating a Priest of Mitra (PoM) capable of solo grinding efficiently, while maintaining the core skills required to be an effective group healer. For the most part, the PoM community has a consensus about the important feats for leveling. This guide will explain the best order in which to select the feats and the reasons for picking them.

Summary

10-14 Improved Smite
15-19 Cleansing Fire
20-23 Holy Vengeance
25-25 Revivication (2...

Hyborian Insider #4 - DX10 and Upcoming AOC Content

submitted by lifebane on Sep 20th, 2008 - Classes: All - 0 comments

Funcom releases their latest edition of the Hyborian Insider, #4.  In this edition they discuss upcoming content as well as reviewing the upcoming DirectX 10 features that Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures will soon be having.  The DirectX 10 changes in particular will make the game look considerably different if your system can actually manage to have all of the bells and whistles turned on high enough to appreciate them... the underwater example they showed looked like something...
