The Dark Templar is very easy to level to about 20, you get some good combos, the destiny quest is pretty straight forward and you have alot of fun running your sword through people and cutting their heads off, when you get a blunt weapon you put the people on their knees and bash the back of their skull in, which looks very cool. The only down side I have had with the fatalities I pull is when I am fighting multiple mobs it pauses to do the fatality graphic which kinda throws you off with your combos as after a while you get in a rhythm.
At level 36 it takes a little getting used to. I played a 50 DK in Vanguard and you can not at lower level rely on your life taps like you could in VG, mind you in VG it was the same lower level.
Until level 30 I could not find anyone that would sell me heavy armor so at the high 20's it was getting kinda hard to solo the harder mobs, but if you chose your target well it was not too bad. Once I hit 30 I did a couple of quests and it made a hell of a difference being able to put this heavy armor on.
What I am playing is a desecration feat line with some minor soldier feats such as goad. So far I have found this very easy to level and fight keeping yourself alive with the life tap abilities and attacks, but he is not so great pulling aggro from the trigger happy casters who try to hit the mob before I get aggro. I think this is more people learning the game more than anything and knowing when they can attack the mob, it was mainly my necro guildie doing this. If I am able to attack first and put in my combos I hold aggro easy. At first I was always running out of stamina but that is easy fixed with popping potions while fighting, using my abilities and feat line plus potions it is almost always maxed stamina and I rarely get under 3/4 health. I have been playing with a mate a bit duoing mobs and also your group regen spell Martyrdom also helps when they get in the crap, I am not sure how this would be in a full group but.
As a main tank I am not sure how the DT would go but they would be awesome as a off-tank and debuff tank with the build I have, but I must say they are a lot of fun. I don't know if it is just me but it seems you upgrade your armor and it is nice and shiney but as you kill mobs it gets covered with gore. I did not really notice till a guildy said to me ... damn laza clean your armor it is covered with guts and I went ya ... damn it is, maybe it was like that when I put it on lol.
We have a 50's Dark Templar in the guild who is having a ball playing it and says aggro is not a problem at all. He may be built different from me as I am going all off tank de-buff line rather than MT soldier line, I figure Conquerors are for that.
What I have learn so far is the DT is awesome as my build in small groups or solo where I do not have to worry about aggro too much as I can really hold my own keeping myself alive with my life tap abilities/spells etc, I can also spot spell regen a mate who is playing an assassin who I duo with a lot when he pulls aggro.
It is a very easy class to level and I would be alot higher if I could get in the game and play for more than 2 - 3 hours max a night this week, alot of which was running around and sorting guild stuff out.
Anyway, if I have typos and bad grammer deal with it, I typed this quick while the game was patching in Aussie time as usual.
